When testing components, e.g. in a 3D computed tomography scanner, large image files are generated (several gigabytes per test) that are to be stored on a server with individual “expiry dates”.
Some test images are only to be available for a few weeks, others for months and others even up to many years.
Solution approach: The image and report management system of our cooperation partner, VISUS, can assign a digital time stamp with the retention date and store the file in the DICONDE-compliant archive. As soon as the expiry date is reached, the user is automatically, resp. actively informed of the object’s deletion. This assures that no unnecessary images or test data consume storage capacity. At the same time, image files cannot be deleted erroneously prior to the expiry date.
